How to choose a Pearl Harbor tour from Waikiki
Pearl Harbor is about a 20-minute drive from Waikiki, and every tour here includes pickup from Waikiki hotels or nearby meeting points plus the USS Arizona Memorial program. The main difference between tours is what else you see that day:
- Short on time: Pearl Harbor and Historic Honolulu City Tour adds Iolani Palace, the King Kamehameha statue and Punchbowl National Cemetery.
- Two battleships: Battleships of WWII pairs the USS Arizona with the Battleship Missouri, where WWII ended.
- Everything at Pearl Harbor: The Complete Pearl Harbor Experience covers all four sites: USS Arizona, Battleship Missouri, the Aviation Museum and USS Bowfin.
- Pearl Harbor plus the island: Pearl Harbor and Oahu Mini Circle Island or Pearl Harbor, Dole Plantation and Polynesian Cultural Center.
- Scenery only: Oahu Grand Circle Island Tour, or fly to the Big Island on a volcano day trip.
Frequently asked questions
Is the USS Arizona Memorial included in Pearl Harbor tours from Waikiki?
Yes. Every Pearl Harbor tour includes the USS Arizona Memorial program: a short documentary about the attack and a Navy boat ride to the memorial. Walk-up tickets are limited and can run out, so booking a tour means you don't have to queue for them.
Where does pickup happen?
From Waikiki hotels or meeting points within a short walk. Times and the exact location are in the voucher emailed after booking. Tour guides are not allowed to meet guests in the Pearl Harbor parking lot.
How long are the tours?
From about half a day for Pearl Harbor and Honolulu up to a full day for the Complete Pearl Harbor Experience or the combos with the circle island tour. The USS Arizona program alone takes about 75 minutes.
Does the guide go onto the USS Arizona Memorial?
No. The memorial is a war grave run by the National Park Service, so guides don't narrate on the boat or the memorial. Your guide covers the history on the way to Pearl Harbor and meets you afterwards.
Can I bring a bag to Pearl Harbor?
No. Bags that can conceal items are not allowed, including purses, backpacks, fanny packs, camera bags and diaper bags. Carry essentials in your pockets or a small clear plastic bag. Paid bag storage is available near the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, and bags can't be left on the tour vehicle.
When is Pearl Harbor closed?
The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. On December 7 it is very busy, so it is not the best day for a first visit.
